Abbey Flyers Trampoline Club
Sheffield
Abbey Flyers is the Sheffield Trampoline Club having satellite clubs in all
areas of Sheffield, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Our main base is at All
Saints Sports College Sheffield, with additional sessions at Wisewood
Sports Centre, Stocksbridge Sports Centre, Handsworth Grange Sports
Centre and Valley Park School.
The club is currently a Community Armature Sports Club that reaches over
500 people per week from all areas of Sheffield, Yorkshire and Derbyshire,
England. The club was the first Trampoline Club in Yorkshire, and one of the
first in Great Britain, to gain GymMark, which is the Sport England Club
Mark accreditation through British Gymnastics.
Since initially starting the trampoline club as an after school club in
November 2000, the club has expanded and exceeded all expectations.
Abbey Flyers are now one of the largest as most successful Trampolining
Clubs in Yorkshire and the North England. From humble roots the club has
blossomed into a multi agency networking organisation that offers
opportunities for over 500 people linking with all of the 4 School Sports
Partnerships in Sheffield as well as two in Rotherham and Doncaster in
such a short space of time. As well as having local links, the club also has
links with top performing countries such as Canada, USA and Denmark
giving excellent travelling and learning opportunities for the performers and
coaches.
The club now boasts 25 British National Finalists and has produced 5
British Champions, 4 National Silver medallists 2 Bronze medallist and
many other top 8 Finalists from the British Trampoline Championships. The
club has members on World Class and National programs aiming to achieve
at top world level.
Within recent international competition, the club has achieved success with
two participants, one of which achieved 5th place in their respective
category, the top placing British competitor at the event!
We have over 40 qualified trampoline Judges and Officials, and over 30
qualified trampoline coaches from grass routes to High Performance. All
trampoline coaches, judges, committee members and helpers give many
hours of their voluntary time each week to Abbey Flyers. They dedicate this
time to the community of the club, help all of our children reach their full
potential, and provide them the opportunities that they would otherwise not
be able to access.
